Information
Three-phase motors are operated with three-phase alternating current or “three-phase current”. This type of current carries its own periodically alternating voltage in each of three separate conductors, the time sequences of which are offset by 120° in advance and in retardation respectively with respect to the other two conductor voltages. They follow the IEC standards.
The AC motor (for alternating or three-phase current) is the workhorse of the industry. The motors are also referred to as induction motors and, depending on the design and construction, as squirrel-cage motors and TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) motors.
The large selection of AC motors allows a high degree of adaptation to local conditions and individual requirements in operation.
