Information
This type of motor is operated with direct current. A feature of the classic DC machines is a mechanical inverter known as a commutator or pole changer. With its help, a speed-dependent alternating current is generated in the rotor.
The DC motors are designed for industrial applications with variable speed. The commutator was adapted to the windings. The power range is from very small to large, 0.5 kW to 2’500 kW in frame sizes 80 to 800. The insulation class is F or H, the protection class is IP23 (IP45, 55). The cooling is executed in IC06 (forced internal cooling).
